How Do I Get My Arkansas Real Estate License?

Kaplan Real Estate Education

If you're considering starting a real estate career in Little Rock, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Springdale, Jonesboro, or any other city in the state, you'll need to earn an Arkansas real estate license. To earn your real estate license in Arkansas, you must be 18 years old, successfully complete the 60-hour prelicensing education requirement with an approved school, be fingerprinted, and pass the state and national portions of the Arkansas licensing exam. While the process to become a real estate agent is similar in most states, each state has unique steps that must be adhered to. The five steps to becoming an Arkansas real estate agent are as follows:

Step 1: Be at Least 18 Years of Age

In addition to being at least 18 years of age, you must also be a US citizen or permanent resident alien and show proof of high school graduation or equivalent.

Step 2: Register for the 60 Hours of Required Education

You must successfully complete 60 hours of Arkansas Real Estate Commission (AREC) - approved real estate education. You can complete the 60-hour requirement with our approved education. Select the right course for you on the Arkansas Salesperson Licensing Course page.

Step 3: Complete Your Fingerprinting and Apply for your Real Estate License Examination

After you complete the 60 hours of required education, you can apply for your real estate exam. AREC requires that all applicants complete a background check and provide fingerprints. You must send in the completed application, completed fingerprint card, and the required fees (see AREC's website).

Step 4: Take the Arkansas and National Licensing Exam

You must successfully pass both the Arkansas and National portions of the Pearson Vue Salesperson Real Estate Exam. Registration and scheduling for the exam can be found on Pearson Vue. There are five exam locations in Arkansas, which can be found here. Be prepared on exam day with our exam prep QBank.

Step 5: Apply for Your Arkansas State License

After passing the exam, you must send the proper forms and fees to the Arkansas Real Estate Commission not later than 90 days after passing the exam. More information can be found on AREC's website. As a Kaplan Real Estate Education student, you can be confident that you are thoroughly prepared to pass the exam.
