Salesperson Pre licensing Education and Licensing Requirements

  • Be 18 years old.
  • Pass a background check
  • Complete 60 hours of pre-licensing education which must include 3 hours of Real Estate
  • Must include 3 hour course in Real Estate Ethics approved by Commission
  • Pass State and National Salesperson Exam
  • Obtain a licensed real estate broker and provide commitment before obtaining license.

Broker Pre Licensing Education and Licensing Requirements

  • Be 18 years old.
  • Complete 135 hours of pre licensing education.
  • Licensed as a real estate salesperson and have actively and lawfully provided real estate brokerage services for at least 3 years.
  • Pass State and National Broker Exam

Salesperson Continuing Education Requirements - First Renewal

  • Licensees who renew after October 1, 2024 are required to have their continuing education COMPLETED 30 days prior to their license renewal date.  Continuing education providers are required to report course completion to the Maryland Real Estate Commission within 14 days of completion.
  • Licensees may not renew their license until their continuing education credits have been submitted to the Commission
  • Continuing education course completion submitted within 30 days of licensure renewal will result in a reinstatement fee upon the licensure renewal.
  • Renewal periods are every two years from the date of original licensure;
  • One month before expiration, the Commission will notify licensees via mail or electronically to notify of renewal
  • Must complete 15 hours of education to include:
