Be Prepared to Get Your MN Home Inspector License
A home inspector is a person who inspects, analyzes, and reports the physical condition of a property. To be a public home inspector in the Twin Cities—one who performs Truth-in-Sale of Housing or code compliance inspections—you must be licensed by the governing city or municipality. Currently, the state of Minnesota has no licensing requirements to become a private home inspector. However, the liabilities associated with the private inspection business make professional training essential.
The first step to getting your Minnesota home inspector license is to enroll in Kaplan's home inspection training program. These professional training courses contain everything you need to prepare yourself for the national exam and fully understand what it takes to become a successful home inspector in Minnesota.
Other than passing the national exam, Minnesota does not have any requirements for home inspectors at this time.
