South Carolina Legislative Summary

Any person desiring to be licensed with examination as a home inspector, shall file with the commission an application of forms showing that he/she: 

(1) Has a minimum of one year experience as a home inspector under the direction or direct supervision of a licensed home inspector, residential builder, general contractor, engineer or architect;

OR

(2) Has successfully completed a formal course of training in home inspection approved by the commission. See our approved course.

Upon filing a completed application and copy of required fees, the applicant shall be entitled to take the home inspectors licensing exam as prescribed by the commission. Upon successful completion of the exam and payment of the licensing fee, the commission will issue a license authorizing the applicant to engage in the business of home inspection. The license is renewable bi-annually.
