Salesperson Prelicensing Education Requirements
- Be 18 years or older
- Provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent
- Be a U.S. resident
- Have completed 5 college credits or 75 hours of real estate education (effective 8/28/18) in Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice within 5 years prior to passing the licensing examination
- (Optional)—Possess a bachelor’s degree with a major in real estate or the equivalent from an accredited college, university, or institute of higher learning
- (Optional)—a juris doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Have successfully passed both the state and national exam
- Provide a background check
Broker Prelicensing Education Requirements
- Be 21 years or older
- Provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent certification
- Courses must be completed within 10 years of the passing date of both portions of the exam
- Have worked at least three years as a licensed salesperson
- Have completed 240 hours (16 college credits) of instruction
- Provide transcripts of credits of education
- Provide a detailed resume of real estate activities performed by the candidate while working as a salesperson and a sworn statement from the candidate’s employing broker confirming that these activities were performed by the candidate as a licensed salesperson
- (Optional)- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Real Estate from an accredited college, juris doctor degree from an accredited law school, Completed 240 hours of broker pre-licensure coursework in another jurisdiction that was approved to meet the requirements of licensure in that jurisdiction.
- Two credits will also be allowed for each year of active practice the applicant has had as a licensed broker in another state during the 10 years immediately preceding the submission of the exam application.
- Provide Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) for the past 5 years
- Successfully pass the State and National portions of the state exam.
Salesperson First Renewal Requirements
- Licenses expire May 31 of every even-numbered year
- Complete 14 hours of continuing education within the biennial renewal cycle■ One General Module

- Licenses expire May 31 of every even-numbered year
- Complete 14 hours of continuing education within the biennial renewal cycle
