4 Tips for Success on Your Real Estate Licensing Exam

Are you getting ready to sit for your real estate licensing exam? It can be a stressful time, but with the right strategies you can go into your exam with the confidence you need to pass the exam. Toby Schifsky walks through a few pointers to help you better prepare for the real estate licensing exam and maximize your potential for success.

The first tip I give you is do all of the licensing coursework. An effective licensing education class covers all the statutory content and highlights key exam issues. A good educator will have instructionally designed the course to ensure that all pertinent content is covered and all important concepts are conveyed in such a way to give the student the greatest possible outcome.

Tip two. Review your course notes. Pay special attention to those items called out or repeatedly cited in your course. They have special importance.

Tip three. Take and complete an exam prep course. We see the highest level of improvement from those students that attend and complete exam prep. We regularly see a 10% or more increase in testing scores as a result of completing our exam prep.

Tip four. Employ an electronic practice test-taking tool. For some licensing candidates, it's been years since they took an exam, let alone an electronic exam on a computer. Practicing test-taking in an electronic environment can improve your comfort, and it will most likely and almost certainly help point out any weaknesses you may still have. Look for practice exam tools that have a robust testing environment with multiple testing scenarios. You'll also want to select one that has a significant number of practice questions so you are appropriately challenged.
