Florida Licensing Information, Reciprocity, and Portability
- Average time to complete licensing education: 3 months
- State governing body: Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation
Reciprocity
- If you have a Florida real estate license, reciprocity states include: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and West Virginia (mutual recognition)
- Steps to acquire state reciprocity:
- Step 1: Be a nonresident of Florida (you’re considered a Florida resident after 4 months)
- Step 2: Pass the 90-minute, 40-question Florida law exam with a score of 75% or higher
- Step 3: Provide a certificate of licensure history
Military Portability
- Application:
- Active-duty military: provide military orders
- Former military: submit DD-214 or NGB-22 for proof of honorable discharge
- Military spouses: provide a marriage certificate if married during active duty or at the time of the service member's death
- Certificate of licensure:
- Submit proof of a valid license from another jurisdiction and relevant statutes/rules for that license
