California Department of Real Estate Required Courses

  • Real Estate Practice (45 Credit Hours)*: A real estate license does not come with an operating manual, so we have created real estate courses that focus on what it really takes to succeed in the business and will expand your knowledge of the industry in an engaging and effective forum. *Real Estate Practice is SB 1495 compliant.
  • California Legal Aspects of Real Estate (45 Credit Hours): Make the law come alive and explore some of the common myths and misconceptions that affect your day-to-day activities. Find out how you can avoid legal entanglements with this exciting course!
  • California Residential Real Estate Appraisal (45 Credit Hours): This California real estate course provides the principles of value, appraisal process, neighborhood and site analysis and valuations, the three approaches to value, depreciation concepts, and the methods to arrive at value. This course provides credit for real estate licensing, but will not count toward appraisal licensing.
  • California Real Estate Economics (45 Credit Hours): Study of the trends and factors that influence changes in real estate values to aid the broker and salespersons in the interpretations of the economy and the real estate market, including government and business conditions that affect real estate decisions, regional and local trends, market analysis, and supply and demand factors.
  • Real Estate Finance (45 Credit Hours): A useful overall view of the financing aspects of real property, including mortgage money market, source of supply and demand for financing, loan processing, mortgages and trust deeds, government involvement, tax aspects of real property, and junior financing.

Elective Courses

  • Real Estate Principles (45 Credit Hours): Become successful in your field by understanding key topics such as time management, the listing and selling process, property valuation, closing the sale, escrow procedure, taxes, financing, and more. 
  • California Real Estate Property Management (45 Credit Hours): This course is for California real estate brokers, salespersons, and owners and managers of income-producing properties with a major emphasis on small and medium apartment complexes. 
  • California Real Estate Escrow and Title (45 Credit Hours): Escrow opens when a buyer and seller sign a sales contract. Your ability to efficiently and effectively escort your clients through escrow and to the closing table will help you stand out in the crowd. Not only will you close more properties, but also you’ll gain valuable word-of-mouth endorsements. This California real estate course is beneficial for all brokers and agents involved in closing, whether escrow is handled in-house or outside.
  • California Real Estate Office Administration (45 Credit Hours): Practical management training to prepare brokers to recognize and solve the many specialized problems and challenges that are involved in administering a real estate organization. This is a valuable course for both new and experienced managers.
