Ohio Real Estate License Reciprocity

Ohio has partial reciprocity with Arkansas, Connecticut, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Here’s how to qualify for an Ohio Salesperson Reciprocal License:

  • Reside in a state that has a reciprocal agreement with Ohio
  • Have an active license in that state for one year before filing your reciprocity application
  • Complete the Ohio Real Estate Law (40 hours) course
  • Be affiliated with a licensed real estate broker in Ohio

To obtain a real estate license in Ohio, you must be 18 years old, be a legal resident of the U.S., complete the required 100 licensing course hours, be sponsored by an Ohio broker, and pass the national and state portions of the real estate salesperson licensing exam.
Students must complete 100 hours of licensing education. This includes 40 hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices, 40 hours of Ohio Real Estate Law, 10 hours of Real Estate Appraisal, and 10 hours of Real Estate Finance.
There is partial reciprocity in Arkansas, Connecticut, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Applicants will still be required to take the 40-hour Ohio real estate law course.
