Salesperson Prelicensing Education Requirements in Minnesota

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Submit to background check and fingerprinting.
  • Complete 90 hours of education to include the following courses:

I. Course I—30 hours
II. Course II—30 hours
III. Course III—30 hours
IV. Must obtain certificates of completion after proctored exams in each course. Can be done by a 3rd party ( someone who has no interest in your passing or failing the exam) or by our virtual proctor sessions

  • Course I must be completed and the proctored exam taken before scheduling the State and National exam.
  • Courses II & III can be completed before or after exams but must be completed before applying for the license.
  • Within 12 months of passing the exam, apply for license.
  • Work for a licensed broker.

Minnesota Real Estate Broker Prelicensing Education Requirements

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an actively licensed salesperson within the previous 5-year period prior to submitting an application.
  • Successfully complete 30 hours Broker Course.
  • Pass Broker’s Examination.
  • Within 12 months of passing the exam, apply for a Broker’s license, and pay the applicable fee.

MN Real Estate Salesperson Continuing Education Requirements

  • Each licensee must complete 30 hours by June 30 of the renewal year. Renewal periods are two years long.

I. MN advises applicants to complete education by June 15 for timely reporting of education
II. At least 15 of those hours must be completed in the first 12 months of the renewal period.
III. 
As part of the 15 hours each license year, a specific general module continuing education course is required. 

  • Applicants must complete the following required topics within the renewal period:

I. 1 hour of training in Agency Representation and disclosure
II. 1 hour of training in state and federal fair housing laws, regulations and rules, other anti-discrimination laws

i.  ***This does not apply to Commercial Salesperson’s***

III. Must obtain either 3.75 or 7.5 hours of module training every license year per designated course by the state

Broker Continuing Education Requirements in MN

  • Each licensee must complete 30 hours by June 30 of the renewal year. Renewal periods are 2 years long.

I. MN advises applicants to complete education by June 15 for timely reporting of education
II. At least 15 of those hours must be completed in the first 12 months of the renewal period.
III. 
As part of the 15 hours each license year, a specific general module continuing education course is required. 

  • The Primary Broker must certify through the on-line renewal process that the licensee has completed hours. 
  • Applicants must complete the following required topics within the renewal period:

I. 1 hour of training to specify in Agency Representation and Disclosure
II. 1 hour of training in state and federal fair housing laws, regulations and rules, other anti-discrimination laws

i. ***This does not apply to Commercial Salesperson’s***

III. 1 hour of issues relevant to brokers
IV. 
Must obtain either 3.75 or 7.5 hours of module training every license year per designated course by the state
